Adult Cartoons seem to have been in a contest for the past few years, each one trying to one-up the other and claim the spot as the most outrageous, most explicit and most absurd. These shows make The Simpsons look like it was made for little kids. Whether or not you actually like it, it’s impossible to deny that the show that has one-upped all the others in these categories is Paradise PD.

From the creators of Brickleberry, a show about a dysfunctional group of park rangers, Paradise PD is about a group of cops who can’t seem to do anything right. In fact, their only motivation seems to be the payoff of a good poop joke. But, even though it’s crass, the show’s also got its smarter moments and easter eggs. So today, we’ll be taking a look at some of the most interesting facts about Paradise PD.

But these facts aren’t just easter eggs or references. They range from connections to the mid-2000s man on the street icon, Yucko the Clown, to story structures and titles that pay tribute to the 17th century poem by John Milton, Paradise Lost. There are real cameos by characters from The Wire and fake cameos by characters from another cop show: Brooklyn 99. There are even shot-for-shot remakes of some other TV shows. Let’s dive in!
