Tuskegee Economic Boycott of 1957 - Redistributing The Pain Against Oppression #PhilandoCastile

video thumbnail
Michael Imhotep, founder of The African History Network and host of “The Africa History Network Show”, explains the history of the Tuskegee, Alabama Economic Boycott of 1957 by African Americans fighting against voter disenfranchisement and White Supremacy. They were fighting against the White Citizens Council, Racism and Segregationist Politicians. African Americans in response to this oppression engaged in an Economic Boycott against White Businesses that lasted longer than the Montgomery Bus Boycott but most African Americans have never heard this story. There is a lot to learn from this story when it comes to strategies that can be utilized to fighting against the Voter Suppression of today and recent court decisions like in the case of Philando Castile whose killer, Officer Jeronimo Yanez was found NOT GUILTY. Recorded 6-17-17

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in his last speech, "I've Been To The Mountaintop", April 3rd, 1968 said "Always anchor our external direct action with POWER of Economic Withdrawal". He also talked about "Redistributed The Pain" Economic Boycotts.
