Shoaib Akhtar, one of the greatest fast bowlers ever, used to instil fear among the batsmen of his time. He is recognised as the fastest bowler in cricketing history. Akhtar had cloaked a top speed of 161.3 km/h (100.23 mph) in a pool match against England during the 2003 Cricket World Cup. Akhtar was fondly known as ‘Rawalpindi Express’ – a tribute to his hometown and fast bowling. He is the first fast bowler to break the 100 mph barrier by achieving the feat twice during his career. He was one of the most fearsome fast bowlers of his era wherein he bowled to some of the greatest batsmen the game of cricket has ever witnessed.
