Woodturning - This Piece of Wood has a Great Story #Revisited |
|
I love it when a piece of wood has a story behind it. To most people this piece of Ash would be no different to any other (apart from the obvious rope marks) but to me it means a lot more. The rope that has scarred the branch over 15 years used to hold up my childhood swing. I have a huge amount of treasured memories from hours of fun had on the tire swing built by my dad. Unfortunately, the tree needed to be pruned back, I tried to make sure that the finished piece kept as much of that story alive as possible, I hope I succeeded.
....I didn't realise how much noise the old lathe made until I got my new shiny new one from Axminster 🤣 Let me know what you think of this revisited video. Do you prefer the editing the second time around? Or would you prefer not to see older content appearing on the channel again? ________________________________________________________________ Hope you enjoy/enjoyed, please consider liking and subscribing, even give the video a share if you're up for it! I am still relatively new to woodturning and some of my techniques might not be the "best" or safest. When using any tools or machinery always read and understand safety/manufacturers guidelines. Yes, I'm aware that wearing gloves while woodturning is considered an unsafe practise. The gloves I wear are tight fitting and don’t have any loose threads. I wear them for the protection of my skin. This is a risk that I am willing to take, however I am still very conscious of the potential danger and I do not touch any spinning parts of the lathe. DO NOT do anything you don’t feel comfortable doing. |
