Leading for Equity | The Future of Education Series |
|
The racial inequities that exist in our nation’s institutions, including our school systems, have recently been amplified by the disproportionate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on communities of color and through the racial justice movement that gained momentum this summer. During this pivotal moment in American history, education leaders are reexamining how they can create more equitable opportunities for marginalized populations. How does one lead through crisis and simultaneously explore opportunities for positive change presented by the crisis?
Join us for “Future of Education: Leading for Equity” when we bring together Janice K. Jackson, CEO of Chicago Public Schools; Joseph Davis, Superintendent of Ferguson-Florissant, Missouri schools; and Brenda Cassellius, Superintendent of the Boston Public Schools. Together, they will share their insights about leading for racial equity in school districts. They will discuss vision, theory, strategy and opportunity with attention to personal identity and local political context. This conversation will be moderated by Jennifer Cheatham, Senior Lecturer on Education and Co-Chair of the Public Education Leadership Project (PELP). #HGSE100 -- Harvard Graduate School of Education Website: http://www.gse.harvard.edu Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/harvardeducation/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HarvardEducation/ Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/hgse Since its founding in 1920, the Harvard Graduate School of Education has been training leaders to transform education in the United States and around the globe. Our work is shaping how people teach, learn, and lead in schools and colleges as well as in after-school programs, high-tech companies, and international organizations. The HGSE community is pushing the frontiers of education, and the effects of our entrepreneurship are improving the world. |
