Monica Mulenga talks about how six little words “The ability to read and write” can redefine Zambia and shares how her works with Book Bus Zambia is creating impact in various parts of Zambia. She believes literacy is the cornerstone to a child’s education and that education can give a child the opportunity to develop themselves and achieve a higher standard of living is the principle that Country Director of The Book Bus (Zambia). Monica Mulenga firmly believes in and creates literacy projects to encourage a “Yes, I can” attitude within schools that rub off on both children and teachers alike.

With over five years working experience in software and systems management as well as starting an events management business, she was selected to attend the US Department of State’s Professional Fellows Program in 2014 and the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Kenya in 2015.

Volunteering with The Book Bus Foundation (UK) in 2010 gave Monica the inspiration to found The Book Bus (Zambia) in 2014 to develop a literacy support programme specifically for schools in Zambia to promote the joy of reading in both local language and English.

The Book Bus (Zambia) operates a mobile literacy support service that provides training, books and library resources to schools around the country.
