Got inspired by the Manny Pacquiao Vs Mayweather fight when Mayweather tweeted after the fight Winners win and losers make excuses Before Matt was getting started he was never a good employee and made a lot of excuses: "the project didn't work because my boss didn't let me do this... the production team didn't give me enough support... etc." Being the boss teaches you it doesn't matter who's fault it is, it doesn't matter what the excuse is. Winner Win and Losers make excuses. Winning can mean anything: getting the project done successfully, being on time, giving the product you want, building a brand, hitting a milestone on a long term goal etc. The point is everybody keep making excuses on why something didn't happen, but the people who are successful they learn from their mistakes, they don't make the same mistakes twice and when they hit it wrong they get back on that horse and try again. When we started the business was in 2008, right in the financial crisis. It taught us to really focus on adding as much value as possible to the people we were trying to sell products to. We weren't on credit or borrowing money so we had to be profitable instantly because we didn't have any money. When we got started neither of us had a couple thousand bucks to throw in, we had a little bit of savings to kinda coast us through but we had to be profitable. We probably had $4000 between the 2 of us and it got to 0 after 6 months because we weren't making any money. Our first order was a hat order of $500 and we were glad haha. Something always kinda happened at the right time, and it felt like jumping out of a plane and try to figure out things before you deploy your parachute. We had a couple times where we were short but we always pulled back up and paid the bills. You got to be in it to win it! And iff you're not playing the game you can't win. Very few people are successful right off the bat. It takes persistence, making mistakes and learning from those mistakes to kind of craft YOU into an entrepreneur and also realizing that the learning is never finished. Matt and Jamon went to law school and thought it would get them a job but after that being in that first year of business it was worth all their school life in education. The more you put into your skills the more it gets easier. Sourcing from China and working with Chinese is never going to be easy. Even being on the ground with full staff here and 10 years experience each, there's always something going wrong. But that doesn't mean there's not a HUGE opportunity here, nobody is going to out-manufacture the Chinese anytime soon so this is THE place to be to MAKE products, and a great place to sell into eventually. Looking forward to create the community!
