(12 May 2016) CLOONEY, FOSTER, ROBERTS BRING THEIR 'MONEY MONSTER' TO CANNES
Jodie Foster's latest directorial offering "Money Monster" premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday night (12 MAY 2016). Joining the actress-turned-director on the famous red carpet steps were the film's stars, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Jack O'Connell, Dominic West and Caitriona Balfe. Also in attendance was Clooney's wife Amal, Susan Sarandon, Naomi Watts, Julianne Moore, Eva Longoria, Vanessa Redgrave and James Ivory. "Money Monster" stars Clooney as a Jim Cramer-esque finance guru named Lee Gates, who's taken hostage on live television by a distraught, bankrupted viewer (O'Connell). Gates' producer (Roberts), in the control booth, remains in his earpiece throughout the ordeal. The thriller unfolds in real time, gradually revealing the deeper roots of media manipulation and economic inequality. "Money Monster" is showing out of competition at this year's festival - which runs until May 22.
