Tuesday on the NewsHour, Israeli airstrikes leave craters where apartments once stood at a Gaza refugee camp. The Supreme Court takes on questions of free speech and social media in cases involving public officials blocking followers. Plus, as West Virginia University cuts jobs and academic subjects in the face of budget shortfalls, we explore if this could become a nationwide trend.

Correction: In our “Rethinking College” segment, we referred to the Morrill Act of 1882. The law was passed in 1862. We also reported that other land-grant universities, including the University of Utah, are making changes and cuts similar to West Virginia University. We attributed that to Lisa Corrigan, a professor of communications at the University of Arkansas, who studies these issues.

The University of Utah is not considering similar cuts. It is also not a land-grant university. Other land-grant schools, including Texas A&M, the University of Alaska and Iowa State, have either made similar cuts to programs or are considering doing so. We regret the errors.
