Australia is all set to spend $3.6 billion on the purchase of tanks and armoured vehicles from the US. Australia will spend $2.58 billion to purchase 75 upgraded M1A2 Abrams tanks and replace 59 M1A1 tanks purchased in 2007. The deal also includes the purchase of 29 assault clearing vehicles, 17 bridge landing vehicles and six repair and evacuation tanks.
