2020 BMW 330e Plug-in hybrid - Sportier And Efficient Sedan

The 2021 BMW 330e plug-in hybrid sedan (European model in gallery below) is on its way to the United States in May, and the company now has full details about what to expect from the electrified model. Prices start at $45,545 for the rear-drive 330e and $47,545 for the all-wheel-drive 330e xDrive (both figures include a $995 destination charge).

Both models use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 181 horsepower (135 kilowatts) and 258 pound-feet (350 Newton-meters) of torque by itself and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The electric motor contributes 107 hp (80 kW) and 77 lb-ft (104 Nm). This results in a total system output of 288 hp (215 kW) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm). In addition, there's a system BMW calls XtraBoost, and in Sport Mode, it provides an extra 40-hp (30-kW) for up to 10 seconds when the throttle is depressed into the kick-down position.

The powertrain gets the 330e to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 5.6 seconds or 5.7 seconds for the xDrive model. With all-season tire, the models have an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph (209 kph). Specifying performance tires increases the figure to 142 mph (229 kph) for the 330e or 140 mph (225 mph) for the xDrive.
