The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) convened a meeting on Monday with newly elected MLAs in Telangana to discuss the formation of the state government. The meeting was led by AICC observer and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka DK Shivakumar and AICC in-charge for Telangana Manikrao Thakare.

The MLAs have unanimously resolved that they want the Congress president, Mallikarjun Kharge, to select the Chief Minister of Telangana, said DK Shivakumar at a press briefing after the meeting. The proposal was put forward by Telangana Congress president Revanth Reddy and received backing from all legislators present at the meeting, he said.
