President Joe Biden will "bring up human rights concerns" when he talks to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said on Friday (February 17).

It was reported no formal request for such a call has yet been made.

Also at the briefing, Kirby said it was not the "right time" for U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to travel to China.

He added that the lines of communication between the U.S. and Chinese military are "unfortunately" closed.
