Webinar: Navigating Diet & Exercise Culture with Children & Youth

video thumbnail
Children and youth are inundated with harmful ideas about bodies, weight, eating, and exercise. As a result, many children and youth develop negative relationships with food and their bodies (including eating disorders). During this webinar, we will discuss the ways in which body shaming and mainstream food and exercise messaging affect children’s body image and capacity for mindful eating. In doing so, we will explore different strategies for helping children and youth of varied ages learn to recognize and navigate diet and exercise culture in order to build a more accepting relationship with food and the body.

This webinar is intended for adults who support children and youth (e.g. parents, caregivers, family members, educators, health care providers, etc).

Facilitated by Kelsey Gatta (she/her), MSW Student, on March 30, 2022.

*Correction: The land acknowledgement should state that as of September 2021, 44 boiling water advisories remain in 32 communities, impacting communities’ ability to prepare and engage with food.”
