A report came out on Monday that the Brooklyn Nets and Kyrie Irving had reached an “impasse” in contract negotiations and there was now a feeling that Irving could begin exploring other options on the market. Whether it’s just posturing or a real sign that the two sides are very far apart is difficult to tell. Whatever it means, if the Nets and Irving weren’t able to reach an agreement, Brooklyn would be hard-pressed to find ways to bring on the same kind of talent this off-season.
