|
The BJP has released its first list of 160 candidates for the two-phase elections to the 182-member Gujarat Assembly. The saffron party has fielded Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel from Ghatlodiya constituency. The party has named Hardik Patel as its candidate from Viramgam and Rivaba Jadeja, wife of cricketer Ravindra Jadega, from Jamnagar North.
Merja, the sitting MLA from Morbi, who is also the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, is among those dropped from the list of 160 candidates. Former MLA from Morbi Kantilal Amrutiya, who helped save lives of many people after a recent bridge collapse incident in Gujarat, has been fielded from the constituency. Amrutiya, a five-time MLA, lost his Morbi seat to the then Congress candidate, Brijesh Merja, in the 2017 Assembly polls in the state. In 2020, Merja quit the Congress to join the BJP, and was elected as MLA from the Morbi constituency. Assembly elections in Gujarat will be held on December 1 and 5, and results will be announced on December 8. #bjp #gujaratelections #gujarat |
