Jennifer Lopez is back to wearing white in her new romantic comedy "Shotgun Wedding", playing a bride whose dream destination wedding takes a terrible turn when the luxury resort gets hijacked by pirates.

Lopez, who has previously starred in wedding-themed films including "Marry Me", "The Wedding Planner" and "Monster-in-Law" plays Darcy, whose fiance Tom has organised every detail of the extravagant event, turning into a groomzilla in the process.

In real life, Lopez and Duhamel both recently got married, Lopez to filmmaker Ben Affleck and Duhamel, who was previously married with singer Fergie, to the 2016 Miss World America, Audra Mari.

"Shotgun Wedding" sees their nuptials getting off on the wrong foot with Tom's mother, played by comedian Jennifer Coolidge, making things awkward and Darcy's handsome ex, played by Lenny Kravitz, turning up, secretly invited by her father.

Kravitz said he enjoyed the communal and shared aspects of the project.

"When I make my music, I'm primarily in the studio by myself, playing the instruments, writing, producing. It's my thing, it's my expression, and it's a great relief to then go and work with people and have it not be about me and how I want it, what I want, but to be there to serve, as I said, the character, the director, the script," he said.

The 58-year-old got plenty of time to bond with his fellow cast members with the film being shot during the Covid pandemic and the film team staying together in a bubble in the Dominican Republic.

The film sees Darcy and Tom reconnecting and rediscovering each other as they try to save their wedding and their guests by outsmarting the pirates.

"Shotgun Wedding", which is directed by Jason Moore, starts streaming on Amazon Prime Video on January 27.
