Hatshepsut by David Pepper Jan 2022 |

Hatshepsut, the "Wonder Woman" of Ancient Egypt, was a powerful leader and a great builder. Her achievements were largely forgotten until recently, after subsequent kings tried to erase any record of her co-rule with her stepson, the mighty pharaoh, Thutmose III. Careful examination of her monuments, texts, and images by modern Egyptologists have revealed she was a remarkable woman, and that her many achievements helped set the stage for Egypt's Great Empire. At this lecture, David Pepper will present Hatsheput's life story, from what's known about her family and her Royal Court, to her great building projects, which culminated in her fabulous Mortuary Temple at Deir el Bahri.
