1975 में Amir Khusro की पुण्यतिथि पर Pakistan National Council for the Arts की ओर से आयोजित कार्यक्रम में जब उन्होंने Main to piya se naina laga aayi re... गाया तो यह समारोह नुसरत साहब के आने और छा जाने का प्रतीक बन गया। 1979 में Raj Kapoor ने अपने बेटे Rishi Kapoor की शादी में कव्वाली के लिए Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan को बुलाया, जहां रात 10 बजे से शुरू हुई कव्वाली की महफिल सुबह 7 बजे तक जारी रही। इस दरमियां नुसरत साबह ने ढाई घंटे तक Ye jo halka halka suroor hai.... गाया। उसी दौरे में उन्हें Ajmer Sharif में Khawaja Moin Uddin Chishti की मजार पर गाने का भी मौका मिला।
