1988 Audi 200 QUATTRO : The Power of Four. |
|
Prior to the development of the 1988 Audi 200 Quattro development, Joseph Hoppen, manager of Audi of America Sport said, “We’ve got something to prove to the world, and we intend to prove it.” The Audi 200, during its introduction in the 1988 Trans-Am season, piloted by Hurley Haywood, Walter Rohrl, and Hans-Joachim Stuck was received with great skepticism by the top contenders (Ford and Chevrolet). Audi was practically gawked at and not considered to have any serious chance at being a competitor, much less a winner.
