Set against the backdrop of administration, points deduction and relegation, a shining light in Pompey's turbulent season was their FA Cup run which took them back to Wembley Stadium just two years after beating Cardiff City in the 2008 Final.

In that season's cup run, the Blues saw off Coventry City, Sunderland, bitter rivals Southampton and Birmingham City before facing Tottenham Hotspur - managed by former manager Harry Redknapp - in the Semi-Final.

Pompey, then managed by Avram Grant, had actually been relegated from the Premier League a day prior to the Semi-Final without playing a match. The victor of the Semi-Final would face defending FA Cup Champions Chelsea, who were on course for a league and cup double.
