William B Grant: Vegans and protein--Revolutionary new clinical studies |
|
Talk by William B. Grant, PhD. Given to the San Francisco Vegan Events meetup in San Francisco on July 5, 2017.
Abstract: Why is it that one of the leading luminaries in the vegan movement--someone with distinguished credentials who has achieved international acclaim--would say that typical vegan groups do NOT follow a good diet, nutritionally speaking? For decades, the 80/10/10 diet has been recommended for optimal health. That is, 80% of calories from complex carbohydrates, 10% from vegan protein and 10% from healthy fats. But something is lacking. Something that keeps showing up in clinical studies when comparing vegan cohorts with the typical SAD diet. Recent clinical studies have underscored this concern. They found that in some critically important areas, the typical vegan diet is lacking. The conclusion was reached that it may NOT provide adequate protein. Dr. William B Grant, PhD, will be addressing these studies, and some of the concerns which have arisen, this coming Wednesday, July 5th at 6 pm. Dr. Grant is a vegan scientist and researcher who regularly shares studies and correspondence with such luminaries as Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and others. He has been frequently published in PubMed and other journals. Knowledge is power. When you know about a situation, then you can do something about it. And this is a concern that directly affects vegans. When some of the top vegan scientists in the world conclude that the typical vegan diet is NOT good nutritionally, then by all means we need to know WHY. |
