The first TCM Remembers (1995) |
|
This year marks the 25th anniversary of TCM Remembers, so to commemorate I present to you the one that started it all: TCM Remembers 1995. That's right: this is the very first TCM Remembers montage, making what I believe is its long-awaited YouTube debut. (Don't ask me how I got it; I'm sworn to secrecy.)
Bear in mind a couple of things: I DID NOT CREATE NOR DO I OWN ANY PART OF THIS VIDEO. I mean, obviously. It was of course created by Turner Classic Movies, but I've uploaded it WITHOUT their permission and it WILL be removed should they request or demand I do so. (Hopefully it'll be okay this one time.) Being TCM's very first year-end tribute, it lacks the quality, length, creativity and inclusiveness which have since become their hallmarks. It's not bad, but it is relatively ordinary, which is to be expected; it would take a couple of years for TCM to hit their stride and begin consistently delivering the stylish, poignant, deftly-edited memorials to which we are now accustomed. Still, it's beneficial to have these early videos publicly available for historical context, review and critique. I don't know if I will be able to keep this up here for long though, so enjoy it while you can. The music is "Fresh Approach" by Ian Hughes. |
