In the report submitted to Congress annually, the Pentagon has stated: “The PRC has the largest navy in the world, with an overall battle force of approximately 350 ships and submarines including over 130 major surface combatants. In comparison, the US Navy’s battle force is approximately 293 ships as of early 2020.” Speaking at a press conference, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for China Chad Sbragia said that China was on course to expand its fleet to 360 vessels by the end of 2020. Viewers may note that in 2019 China had a 335-ship fleet, about 55 percent larger than in 2005, as per the recent Congressional Research Service report titled, “China’s Naval Modernization: Implications for U.S. Navy Capabilities — Background and Issues for Congress.” This clearly depicts the frantic shipbuilding pace China has maintained in recent years. Overall the picture looks daunting for the rivals of China - it is the world’s top manufacturer, has the second largest economy, and now the world’s largest naval force. Many will think that the Chinese Navy will dominate especially in the Asia-Pacific region. But there is a caveat, larger doesn’t always mean more powerful. In this video Defense Updates analyzes why the Chinese Navy is no match to the U.S Navy even though it is now the larger one? #DefenseUpdates # #USvsChinaNavy #LargerButNotPowerful CHANNEL LINK: Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/DefenseUpdates SUPPORT US: Patron: https://www.patreon.com/defenseupdates AUDIO: scottleffler.com BACKGROUND MUSIC https://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/music.html "Giant Wyrm" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ IMAGES USED https://www.defense.gov/Explore/Features/Story/Article/1867440/pentagon-history-7-big-things-to-know/ https://www.financialexpress.com/world-news/trump-says-great-bond-with-chinas-xi-changed-after-covid-19-i-used-to-have-a-very-good-relationship-with-him/2052075/ https://www.usni.org/magazines/proceedings/2020/may/us-navy-review https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/china%E2%80%99s-new-aircraft-carrier-shandong-5-things-you-need-know-107796 https://www.navyrecognition.com/index.php/news/defence-news/2020/may-2020/8423-u-s-navy-aircraft-carrier-uss-gerald-r-ford-cvn-78-performs-a-replenishment-at-sea.html https://defpost.com/china-commissions-first-type-055-guided-missile-destroyer-nanchang/ https://www.naval-technology.com/projects/luyang-052d-destroyers/ https://asiatimes.com/tag/type-056-corvette/ https://www.businessinsider.com/chinas-first-type-075-amphibious-assault-ship-begins-sea-trial-2020-8?IR=T https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:US_Navy_071214-N-0555B-008_The_Ticonderoga-class_guided-missile_cruiser_USS_Chancellorsville_(CG_62),_the_Arleigh_Burke-class_guided-missile_destroyer_USS_Decatur_(DDG_73)_and_the_other_ships_of_Destroyer_Squadron_(DESRON)_7_st.jpg https://militarywatchmagazine.com/article/wasp-class-carrier-with-f-35b-stealth-jets-projecting-american-power-in-the-south-china-sea https://news.usni.org/2020/04/24/destroyer-uss-zumwalt-delivers-to-navy-after-combat-system-activation https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/us-navys-littoral-combat-ship-beautiful-disaster-123256 https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/can-ballistic-missile-defense-system-shield-guam-north-korea https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/china%E2%80%99s-type-094-class-nuclear-missile-submarine-ultimate-paper-tiger-149516 https://www.naval-technology.com/projects/nssn/ |
