It’s fair to say manager Nuno Espírito Santo hasn’t had the impact he would have hoped for at Nottingham Forest so far. He was appointed in late December, yet no side come into the round having lost more Premier League games in 2024 than his team (seven). There were at least signs of improvement in the Midlands’ outfit before last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at Tottenham, as they’d strung together a three-match unbeaten league run for the first time since October.

One of those matches was a 3-1 win against Fulham last time out at the City Ground, giving Forest the chance here to secure successive home league wins for the first time in the same season since May last year. However, just one win against Wolves in the last ten league meetings (D4, L5) does hint that they might not be the ideal opponent in which to try and climb away from the relegation zone, with just goal difference currently keeping their heads above water.

Wolves make the short journey to Nottingham frustrated and believing they were on the wrong end of another crucial VAR decision in last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat to West Ham. That aside, it was a lacklustre display from Gary O’Neil’s men whose ambitions of securing European football next season are waning on the back of a three-match winless league streak (D1, L2).

That run has left them seven points adrift of Manchester United in sixth, and their defensive form on the road this season suggests they will have to work hard to get in the win column again. They have kept just two clean sheets in their last 32 Premier League away games, while the three H2H meetings between the two last calendar year also both teams score.

Players to watch: Forest striker Chris Wood netted last week, and against only West Ham has he scored more Premier League goals than he has against Wolves (six). Matheus Cunha recently returned from injury for Wolves and will be eager to add to his nine league goals - one of which came in the reverse (1-1).
