DreamWorks Dragons - Hiccup's Monologues (Trilogy) |
|
I somehow saw no one do this and longed for it myself so I did it and wished to share, though I honestly don't care whether it's seen by any. Hiccup's monologues were perfect for recital at a poetry college class I had recently, and he really helped me out :)
This is my first video (sorry for sloppy edits) and mostly just an experiment to test the system and see if these snippets are too long. Obviously, rights go to DreamWorks Animation! I also have "lyrics" on so you can follow along. I tried to capture the dramatic pauses and enunciations in text akin to the writeup and performance I had to fulfil for my class. -Pro=Prologue Epi=Epilogue ------------Movie 1: Pro: This is Berk. It's twelve days north of hopeless and a few degrees south of freezing to death. It's located solidly on the meridian of misery.... My village. In a word, sturdy. It's been here for seven generations but every single building is new.. We have fishing, hunting, and a charming view of the sunsets. The onlyyy problems are the pests. You see, most places have... mice or mosquitoes. We have...... dragons. Epi: THIS is Berk. It snows nine months of the year and hails the other three. Any food that grows here is tough and tasteless. The people that grow here, even more so. (Yeah!!) The only upsides are the pets. While other places have... ponies, or parrots... we have... dragons. ------------GotNF: Winter in Berk lasts most of the year. It hangs on with both hands and won't let go. And the only real comforts against the cold... are those you keep close to your heart. (I gave him a pretty good gift) he gave me a better one. (Note: Only Epi is present in this special, and I've only included lyrics to the parts present in this video). ------------Movie 2: Pro: This is Berk. The best kept secret this side of... well, anywhere. Granted it may not look like much but this wet heap of rock packs more^ than a few surprises. Life here is amazing. Just not for the faint of heart. You see, where most folks enjoy hobbies like whittling or needlepoint, we Berkians prefer... a little something we like to call..... DRAGON RACING! Epi: This is Berk. A bit trampled and busted and covered in ice but it's home... it's OUR home..... those who attacked us, are relentless and crazy. But those who stop(ped) them... OOHHH, even more so! We may be small in numbers, but we stand for something bigger than anything the world can pit against us. We are the voice of peace and bit by bit we WILL change this world. You see, we have somethin' they don't. Oh sure, they have armies.. and they have armadas, but WE... WE have... OUR DRAGONS! ----------Movie 3: Pro: THIS is Berk. Your new home-away-from-home. A stunning one-stop all-expense-paid dream destination. So settle in and let your worries melt away. The service here soars, the cuisine is fiery, AND the locals are as colorful as ya get. Any run-of-the-mill paradise boasts beaches and sunshine. Well, NOT us. We've got something NO one else can touch. We, my friend, have DRAGONS. Lots and LOTS of draagons. Epi: Legend says that when the ground quakes or lava spews from the Earth, it's the Dragons, letting us know they're still (here), waiting for us to figure out how to get along. The world believes dragons are gone if they ever existed at all. But we Berkians, we know otherwise. And we'll guard the secret... until the time comes... when Dragons can return in peace. ------------------------------------------- Further Reading: This was originally was uploaded with the holiday specials (hence why I uploaded on the 25th), though unfortunately both specials got "manually" claimed and blocked worldwide by NBCUniversal. There were sections of the The Hidden World, Gift of the Night Fury and the very end of Homecoming that did not get claimed, so I left those in and thankfully it was pretty clean otherwise. I like including the entire clip without too many cuts since that's part of the magic, but tell that to NBC. They're in for a fight if they think I'm gonna stop trying, I'll at least try on another video to complete the monologue trilogy ;) Fun fact: The first movie was distributed by Paramount Pictures, the second by 20th Century Fox, and the third by Universal Pictures.
