Plumes of smoke rose over Gaza and sounds of gunfire could be heard from southern Israel on Saturday (February 24).
Nearly 30,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, the Gaza health ministry said on Friday. Gaza health authorities said 97 people were confirmed killed and 130 wounded in the last 24 hours of Israeli assaults, but most victims were still under rubble or in areas rescuers could not reach. Israelis were seen visiting a site where hundreds of vehicles damaged in the October 7 attack are piled up. Israel's air and ground offensive has devastated much of Gaza and forced nearly all its inhabitants from their homes. Israel's war in Gaza ensued after Islamist militant group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, led a devastating attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and seizing 253 hostages, according to Israeli tallies. -- Report from Reuters (Production: Herbert Villarraga, Nuha Sharaf) Subscribe to the ABS-CBN News channel! - http://bit.ly/TheABSCBNNews Watch full episodes on iWantTFC for FREE here: http://iwanttfc.com Visit our website at http://news.abs-cbn.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/abscbnNEWS Twitter: https://twitter.com/abscbnnews Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/abscbnnews #BreakingNews #LatestNews #ABSCBNNews |
