The Crusades were a "military campaign'" of Christian forces in Europe in an attempt to seize the Holy Land, Jerusalem from the hands of Muslims in the Middle East. One of the effects of this Crusade was that some Christian monasteries in Europe began to change, which was originally only a "monastic order" working in religious affairs, turning into a "military order". These Orders then recruited many people in Western Europe to participate in seizing the Holy Land, both from the low and high classes. Here is a brief history of five Catholic military orders that participated in the Crusades during the Middle Ages.
