When this arena tour was announced, only this date was available, but due to the overwhelming ticket demand that followed Oasis at this time in their career, another date was added at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham for the 30th, which isn’t a surprise. It’s been a busy time for Oasis. 15 shows in 21 days, with one last two-night stand here before jetting off to America to rejuvenate the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. While on the surface this seems to be another fairly typical Be Here Now show, Liam does have a bit of trouble tonight. Starting off well, he tires himself out during Champagne Supernova, which leaves him struggling through the rest of the show, and his voice almost gone by the end of the night. However despite Liam’s slight troubles, However on the other hand, this show has some great moments which perhaps make it more of a worthwhile listen than earlier shows. Firstly, Steve Craddock of Ocean Colour Scene comes onstage to play Champagne Supernova with the lads (after doing so a few weeks back in Copenhagen) and his added touches are very nice indeed. Secondly, Noel is shining on the guitar, undeniably the star of the night as he plays quite creatively all throughout the show, most notably in Some Might Say, Live Forever and Acquiesce, and seems to be in good spirits too. Thirdly, this show has some great banter with the audience, most notably just before Wonderwall. Lastly, Noel teases Cigarettes & Alcohol (a song which hadn’t been played in over a year) just before Roll With It, which is something he’d do again in New York a few days later, but quickly moves on from this, as it wasn’t back in the set quite yet.
