video thumbnail
Time for another trip to space!
** Although as with every rocket launch, the date and times are tentative. **

Three satellites, the MP42 and two other satellites based on M12P and M6P buses which the NanoAvionics team has built for truly international customers will be launching to space aboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket Transporter-4 mission on the 1st of April 2022.

We will be hosting this launch event from our studio together with our colleagues and international customers from Omnispace, Thales Alenia Space, OQ Technology, and Veoware Space.
You are invited to watch the live stream with us as well! Join us to share our excitement on launch day, as we break a few personal records on this flight with our customers!

Timeline:
T: -00:30:00 we will introduce you to the Spark-1 and MP42 satellites as well as our guests
T: -00:15:00 we will switch to the SpaceX launch broadcast to witness the launch
T: +00:13:00 after successful Falcon 9 second stage orbital insertion and Spark-1 satellite deployment, we will continue talking about our customer satellites that are flying, their payloads, NanoAvionics satellite buses, how we build them, and all things space while we wait for confirmation of successful satellite deployment.
T: +01:00:00 just before going back to SpaceX for the second round of satellite deployments, we will have time to answer some of your questions
T: +01:10:00 we will return to the live views from SpaceX to see real-time satellite deployments provided by the Falcon 9 second stage from the 500km orbit
T: +01:30:00 after watching the satellite deployment, we will return to our studio for a few final words regarding the next steps with the satellites

The satellites:
🛰️ "MP42" is our first microsatellite based on a prototype of our modular MP42 microsatellite bus, carrying payloads for multiple customers. One of the payloads is “Tiger-3”, for OQ Technology’s 5G IoT and Machine-to-machine communication constellation. The MP42 also hosts VEOWARE’s fully integrated reaction wheel for high-performance satellite attitude control with next-generation high torque / low power technology which they will run various in-orbit tests with.

The MP42 also marks the finale of NanoAvionics’ GIoT (Global Internet of Things) R&D project which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 853797 and was established together with our consortium partners KSAT and Antwerp Space. The MP42 hosts some key enabling technologies developed throughout the length of the GIoT project, including an inter-satellite link and a next-generation payload controller.

🛰️ "Spark-1" is a 12U satellite based on our M12P nanosatellite bus and is the start of Omnispace’s mission to reinvent mobile communications through a truly global hybrid 5G network. By integrating terrestrial and satellite networks into one seamless connected experience, Omnispace seeks to empower consumer, enterprise, government and IoT users worldwide. Their initial satellites, named Spark-1 and Spark-2 operating in Low Earth Orbit will support the development and implementation of ubiquitous mobile voice and data communications — connecting directly to mobile devices in real-time, around the globe.

🛰️ Lastly, launching onboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle is a sophisticated 6U Earth Observation satellite we have built for a customer who did not wish to be disclosed at this point.
