A series of strange and unexplained phenomena are occurring in the world's oceans, leading to global catastrophes. Professor of marine biology Sigur Johansson, molecular biologist Cecile Roche, whale researcher Leon Anavac and other prominent experts try to explain the nature of cataclysms. It soon becomes clear that a mysterious intelligent life inhabiting the depths of the Arctic Ocean is to blame.
