Exploring the Security-Development-Human Rights Nexus in Theory and Practice |
|
What are the conceptual links between security and development, and what opportunities do the sustainable development goals offer to unite the two discourses in practice?
How does the promise of “leaving no one behind” in the light of the 2030 Agenda respond to the threats of conflict, insecurity, weak institutions, and limited access to justice? What do the practitioners think of translating the security-development nexus into practice? How are the concepts of security and development understood in highly centralized and/or autocratic societies, and how does this understanding affect the realization of human rights in such contexts? These are some of the questions our speakers seek to address in this panel focused on different aspects of the security-development-human rights nexus.
