MartialArtsTeachers.com EmpowerKickboxing.com MATACertification.com In this interview, I cover topics related to: How to Teach A black belt does not mean you can teach. Ask a question to a specific student or ask it to the class? Why? Sally in the Mall - How to teach sparring so students don’t quit. Limited sparring drills Instant Value vs Down the Long Distance Value 4 years to get a college degree = 4 years to get a black belt? Lewis got two black belts in 7 months Blindly accepting dogma because the “master black belt” knows all. When does an attacker EVER step back, aim and then step to you, punch and hold the punch out? Would the defense work against a real punch? How does that help our students? Target work and limited sparring drills are best for that. What kata teaches any of that? What kata teaches how to defend against a taller fighter? What kata teaches how to defend against an aggressive or lead-off fighter? What kata teaches how to defend against a counter fighter? What kata teaches how to defend against someone trying to tackle you? Have you ever seen a double punch in a real fight? Have you ever seen a square block against multiple attackers in a real attack? Pre-attack indicators I’d like our audience to answer this. What is a pre-attack indicator not by its definition but describe one. |
