Learning poetry can be a bore. In this humorous talk and performance Henrik Hoeg shares with us what poetry is like outside the curriculum: interesting, modern, and relatable.

Henrik Hoeg is the emcee and director of Peel Street Poetry, an English language poetry collective in Hong Kong centered around their weekly open mic nights. His first book 'Irreverent Poems for Pretentious People' was an awardee in the 2015 Proverse Prize and subsequently Published in 2016. It was described in the Asian Literary Journal 'Cha' as "the poetic equivalent of Tinder match". By day he works as a Literary Specialist at the Jadis Blurton Family Development Center, primarily working with dyslexic children. His second collection of poetry is due out this summer.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
