MIT Climate Engagement Forum: Viewpoints from the MIT Community |
|
On April 1, 2021, MIT Environmental Solutions Initiative Director John E. Fernández hosted a forum in which MIT faculty, staff, students and alumni shared the various ways they have been working with collaborators outside MIT to address the climate crisis.
This forum took place as MIT prepared to issue a new Plan for Action on Climate Change in spring 2021. Engaging with entities outside of MIT, including governments, companies, other universities, and NGOs, has been central to the Institute's strategy for making progress on climate, and this event provided the MIT community with an opportunity to learn about and offer their thoughts on the benefits and challenges of working in collaboration with other organizations. Portions of this event addressed: climate education inside and outside MIT; collaborations to advance a just transition to a low-carbon economy in communities most affected by these changes; and engaging with an uncertain future.
