A Rockhampton man who sharpened two knives before driving to his wife's house and stabbing her 26 times has been jailed for life for her murder.

In sentencing Gilliland, Justice Graeme Crow said the crime was a "vicious, ferocious and prolonged attack" that was "unimaginable and particularly cruel to the children". She was one of 86 Australian women killed in 2020 in family or domestic violence circumstances last year, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
