Tony Award winners Cynthia Erivo and Ben Platt fill the stage with joy as they perform the classic Soul hit “You’re All I Need to Get By”. The song tells a story of an unbreakable bond between soul mates, told through the voices of two friends with unwavering support for one another. NEXT at the Kennedy Center brings in the New Year with unforgettable performances by Cynthia Erivo, Ben Platt, and Joaquina Kalukango filled with love and hope.

Cynthia Erivo, enchanting star of the stage and screen, invites you to ring in the New Year with her magnificent friends Ben Platt and Joaquina Kalukango as they bring their powerful voices and favorite songs to the Kennedy Center. Erivo takes the audience on a journey through a diverse repertoire of songs that have shaped her artistic sensibility from Broadway and Motown, to Rock and R&B.

Erivo has taken the world by storm since bursting onto the West End and Broadway stages in The Color Purple. An actress, singer, author, and producer, Erivo has received worldwide critical acclaim for her work, including Grammy®, Emmy®, and Tony® Awards.

Joining Erivo are her friends Tony®, Grammy®, and Emmy® Award winner Ben Platt and Tony®, Drama Desk® and Outer Critics Circle® Award winner Joaquina Kalukango. Ben Platt, known for his groundbreaking role in Dear Evan Hansen, has seamlessly transitioned from Broadway to the big screen with the film adaptation of the musical. His contributions to theater, film, and music, including chart-topping albums, highlight his multifaceted talent. Kalukango made a name for herself with standout performances in Broadway productions like Paradise Square and Slave Play. Her diverse talents have also been showcased in films like One Night in Miami and television series such as Lovecraft Country.

This New Year’s event will be a celebration of music in its purest form, with each artist bringing their own personal touch to the stage.
