Cyclone Gabrielle: New Zealand declares state of emergency as storm batters nation | ITV News |

A state of emergency has been declared in New Zealand after Cyclone Gabrielle - described as the nation's most severe weather event in years - swept through the north of the country.
It comes just two weeks after the country's largest city, Auckland, was swamped by a record-breaking storm that killed four people. On Tuesday, a lone sailor was rescued by New Zealand's defence force amid the cyclone. The distressed sailor's yacht was pushed out onto choppy waters due to the cyclone winds. • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj • Get breaking news and more stories at http://www.itv.com/news Follow ITV News on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV News on Twitter: https://twitter.com/itvnews Follow ITV News on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itvnews/ |
