The JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi will be hosting the opening game of the three-match series. When T20s started it was seen as an abridged version of one dayers. But tables have turned. Now they are an extension of ODIs. 350 is the new 300 in ODIs and even that doesn't look safe. So however out of context this T20I series might look from the outside the T20 mercenaries from both sides who want a ticket for the 50 World Cup can have a free audition in the next three games. India despite being a little light on stalwarts would still start as favorites. Head-to-Head (Last 10 matches): India have been sensational against New Zealand as far as history is considered. The Men in Blue have come out victorious nine times in their last 10 meetings. The mighty Indians are the clear favorites heading into tonight’s clash. Mitchell Santner (New Zealand Captain): "We were challenged in the ODI series. It provides a great opportunity for us to play India which doesn't come often. There's no other experience like playing India at home. It allows the youngsters to step up with the World Cup here. The pitch looks good. We would have fielded first as well. Putting runs on the board and defending will be a challenge today. Tom Latham and Henry Nicholls have flown back and with that Ish Sodhi and Mark Chapman come into the side." Toss Update: India have won the toss and opted to bowl first. Hardik Pandya (India Captain): "We're gonna bowl first. Looks like a very good track. The ground is gonna get 'witty' as I can see some dew now only. We are going to go and play the best cricket we know. We will try to challenge ourselves as much as we can. There will be times when New Zealand will challenge us as well. Playing the ODIs before the T20Is passes on. A lot of people have played Ranji Trophy and others so everyone has played the matches to have the rhythm. Playing for India is a great thing. That's the beauty of the team everyone wishes to do good for their side. For a lot of them it is an experience just being on the team. Four misses out - Yuzi Mukesh Jitesh and Prithvi." Key players to watch out for tonight: Suryakumar Yadav: Having won the ICC Men’s T20I Player of the Year Award 2022 SKY will be riding with confidence and he is a player to look forward to tonight. Devon Conway: The New Zealand opener has found his form and smashed a century in the last game of the ODI series. Expect him to give his side a good start. Shubman Gill: Having amassed 360 runs in the ODI series Gill has been in rich form with the bat and will look to emulate his performances in the shortest format. Michael Bracewell: The highest run-scorer for New Zealand in the ODI series Bracewell will be looking to carry forward his rich form in the T20I series. He is also handy with the ball. Pitch Report (Danny Morrison and Ajit Agarkar): "Not a big scoring ground. The average first innings score is 159. The square boundaries are just over 60 and as we have towards the sightscreen it increases to 70. The pitch looks excellent. There is an even covering of grass and looks very hard. The dew might come into the later stages of the game. The pitch is a good one and the ball will skid." Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content.
