What climate action should the next government prioritise? |
|
Climate action will be high up on the next government’s agenda. The environment frequently features among voters’ top priorities, and both the Conservatives and Labour are already making sizeable climate pledges.
But tackling a problem the size of climate change is a considerable endeavour. A range of solutions will be needed to decarbonise the country, and the next government will have limited political capital. Breaking down what they should prioritise will be an important stage of the political debate. This event, a Bylines Network Debate for Progress, will present a few options of what the next government should prioritise to tackle the climate emergency. The following speakers will make the below cases of which policies would be best placed to do so: ● Carla Denyer, Co-leader of the Green Party of England and Wales ● Wera Hobhouse, Liberal Democrat MP for Bath, and the party's spokesperson for Energy & Climate Change and Transport ● Ryan Jude, Programme Director at the Green Finance Institute, Labour Party Councillor for Lancaster Gate, and Deputy Cabinet Member - Climate Action and Biodiversity, at Westminster City Council ● Leo Murray, Co-founder and Director of Innovation and Engagement at Possible The event will be chaired by Louise Houghton, Director of the Bylines Network. https://yorkshirebylines.co.uk/news/environment/what-climate-action-should-the-next-government-prioritise/ https://tickettailor.com/events/bylinesnetwork/916412 https://facebook.com/events/552783863474767 |
