Impact of Climate Change on Agriculture | Mohsin Abdali | TEDxYouth@BeaconhouseLahore |
|
Agriculture is the third major contributor to global emissions and climate change. The reason for this is the organization of agriculture on industrial-capitalist lines. At the same time, the agriculture sector is facing the brunt of global climate change in the form of food security crisis and livelihoods of millions of people being adversely affected. The deterioration of natural resources and reservoirs is engulfing our agro-ecological framework and is intensifying with each passing day. We need to introduce radical changes in our agrarian practices to ensure the conservation of agro-ecology and food safety for all. Mohsin is currently completing an MPhil in Agricultural Sciences at Punjab University Lahore, Pakistan.. He is also an activist associated with Progressive Students Collective, Haqooq e Khalq Movement for the last four years. Mohsin has been working with farmers across Pakistan on various issues and is a member of Pak Kisaan Rabtaa Committee. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
