Manchester United target sets Opta European record, gets perfect 10.0 rating

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea kept a much welcome clean sheet in the Premier League on Saturday.

But the Spaniard is set to face added competition, with Manchester United strongly linked with signing a new goalkeeper before the transfer deadline.

One player linked with replacing him is Borussia Moenchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer, who was named as a target by Swiss outlet Blick.

The Sun claimed United sent scouts to watch him last week. If they saw him in action this weekend, they will have been very impressed.

Sommer played a key role in helping Borussia Moenchengladbach hold Bayern Munich to a 1-1 draw.

Sommer certainly won’t want to trade in a regular starting place for a spot on the bench, with a key role in Switzerland’s World Cup side awaiting him.

United are expected to settle for Newcastle’s Martin Dubravka instead, with Fabrizio Romano claiming the Slovakian has agreed personal terms, if the Premier League side agree to let him go.
