video thumbnail
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Jessica had only just arrived in the UK from New Zealand when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In a deeply emotional talk, she describes her life-changing experience, the challenges she struggled with and how she eventually got back to her happy place. She explains that the prevention of breast cancer is, literally, in our hands.

Jessica Weller is a teacher from New Zealand who had been in London for four months when she was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 27. She stayed in the UK and went through life-saving cancer treatment there while working full time as a teacher and travelling Europe. Jessica is now a cancer survivor, a patient advocate and educator promoting awareness for Breast Cancer.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
