Children Can Make A World of Difference | Bora You | TEDxJalanTunjungan

video thumbnail
Who says environmental issues are only for adults? Bora You disagrees with that. She can make children care about what’s happening to our planet through her forte: an entertaining process of learning.

Believing that children can bring great differences to the world, Bora You created SOS (Study Oneself) Earth School to teach them the essential knowledge about climate change. As books are an indispensable part of education, she is also the writer of “What on Earth”, an environmental guide for children.

Passionate in creating educational contents for children, Bora You majored in Arts & Science at College of the Rockies in 2000. After achieving a B.A Journalism degree in Thompson Rivers University, she decided to be an English teacher in various schools around Canada, Japan and South Korea.

From her love towards children too, she founded Earth Dayz in 2017, a platform that has organized the annual Earth Day Festival in Surabaya and collaborated with wildlife conservation groups to save endangered species in Indonesian rainforests.

Above all, teaching children and environmental concerns goes hand in hand for Bora, as she established SOS Earth School this year while continuing to be a director in British Education Centre. Her green contents for children can be found on "Story Bora" at YouTube. Bora You is an active and passionate teacher for children; familiar with creating digital educational contents to raise awareness of environmental issues. She is the founder of SOS (Study OneSelf) Earth School at Surabaya and an author of “What on Earth,” an Enviro101 textbook for kids.

She majored in Arts & Science at the college of the Rockies and also studied Journalism and Eco-Tourism in Canada.

She became an English teacher and travelled around various countries for many years. Until 2017, she started her official environmental project called Earth Dayz in the hopes of saving the rainforests and endangered species. Her activities and works can be found at www.earthdayz.com and ‘storybora’ on Youtube. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
