Vasan Bala talks about helming the docu-series Cinema Marte Dum Tak, which unveils the once-thriving business of the Hindi pulp industry also colloquially branded as 'B-movies'.

The 6-episode documentary is streaming on Prime Video India. It focuses on J Neelam, Vinod Talwar, Dilip Gulati and Kishan Shah directors of the golden age of this industry and take you for a behind-the-scenes look at the making of their movies.

Bala's works pay homage to Bollywood cinema from the 70s, 80 and 90s. He combines a variety of genres in his especially dark comedy and crime. Quirkiness is also added to the mix. Notable directorial movies include Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota (2019), Ray (2021) and most recently, Monica, O My Darling (2022).
