|
Professor Lee Grieveson, Professor of Media History, in the Centre for Multidisciplinary and Intercultural Inquiry,
Tuesday 18th October 2018 #ucllhl Bring your lunch and your curiosity! UCL Lunch Hour Lectures, (most) Tuesdays, Darwin Lecture Theatre, 1.10 - 1.55pm In this lecture Professor Lee Grieveson explores the ways in which digital media and new practices of data-mining and psychographic messaging were used in the 2016 US election and British European referendum. Broadly, these practices sought to shape the attitudes and conducts of populations to support ever-more militant efforts to strip back social democracy and to foster new forms of nationalism. He proposes to explore this recent history of the deployment of media to shape new political and economic realities.
