2023 Omega watches could arrive at any minute. In the post-Baselworld era, Omega chooses to launch watches from January through December with no clear pattern ore predictable schedule. Major new Omega Speedmaster chronographs and Seamaster dive watches could arrive at any time before, during, or after Watches & Wonders 2023, so today is an ideal time to discuss Tim Mosso's predictions for the 2023 Omega watch novelties.

2023 marks 30 years since the launch of the transformational Seamaster Diver 300M collection of 1993. That series spawned the Diver 300M chronometer, a 41m stainless steel dive watch whose commercial success and association with James Bond played a central role in the 1990s resurrection of the Omega brand itself. With specifications and build quality to rival and even shame the competing Rolex Submariner, the Seamaster Professional Diver 300M was a landmark watch.

Having been redesigned as recently as 2018, the Omega Diver 300M is unlikely to receive an entirely new design for 2023. More likely will be special editions to mark three decades of the longest-lived Omega Seamaster design of all time. And that last point does bear emphasis; prior to the 1993 Diver 300M, Omega Seamaster dive watches received wholesale redesigns that left different generations of the watch unrecognizable as the same series.

Omega watch collectors may see exotic variants of the Seamaster including platinum cases, exotic dials such as lapis, malachite, and tiger's eye, and potential craft art variants including enamel, adventurine, engraving, or skeletonization. Also possible are new dial and bezel colors for the regular production Diver 300M and specialized complications such as regatta timers and chiming dive alarms. Due to Omega's strength in ceramics, a Seamaster Diver 300M in full ceramic with a matching bracelet is entirely possible.

Omega has found immense success with its ceramic Speedmaster Moonwatch "Dark Side of the Moon" series. Elaborate evolutions of the concept include the Apollo 8 and the regatta-themed Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Alinghi. Simultaneously, the re-release of the Omega chronograph caliber 321 has created a crush of demand for this reborn Omega pre-Moonwatch movement. What if Omega were to combine the two in a ceramic-cased Speedmaster with a column wheel chronograph caliber? That luxury watch would be the blockbuster chronograph launch of 2023; only a 70th anniversary next-generation Rolex Daytona would be able to compete for attention and dollars.
