The End of Islamaphobia | Edward Ahmed Mitchell | TEDxGeorgiaTech |
|
American Muslims face a host of threats, from hate speech and hate crimes to anti-Muslim bigotry and Muslim extremism. Despite these challenges, civil rights groups like the Council on American-Islamic Relations consider this moment of serious peril to be a moment of great opportunity. To understand why, CAIR-GA Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell plans to explain the threats facing American Muslims, and then reveal how American Muslims hope to win this struggle for civil rights, once and for all.
Edward Ahmed Mitchell is a Muslim-American civil rights attorney, and currently serves as the executive director of the Georgia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-GA). Edward is a graduate of Morehouse College and the Georgetown University Law Center and started his career as a criminal prosecutor in Atlanta. He is also an editor of AtlantaMuslim, a member of the Georgia Association of Muslim Lawyers, and a member of the board of trustees of the Islamic Community Center of Atlanta.
