Marcus Atilius Regulus, Consul 227 and 217 BCE, Censor 214 BCE |
|
One of the more boring men of his era, Marcus Atilius Regulus is one of the more easily overlooked commanders of the Second Punic War. Polybius and Livy do not agree on whether or not he fought at Cannae and that is perhaps the most interesting thing about his life. However, we can learn a fair amount about any period by paying attention to powerful people who are not major players or larger-than-life personalities.
