Pay for success in government: better outcomes at lower cost | John Delaney | TEDxPennsylvaniaAvenue

video thumbnail
How can our nation begin to solve its biggest problems - including poverty, educational inequality, and climate change - as effectively and efficiently as possible? In his very thoughtful and compelling talk, Congressman John Delaney (MD-6), the only former CEO of a publicly-traded company currently serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, makes a very strong case that bipartisan, cross-sector Pay For Success initiatives (which are also known as Social Impact Bonds and Social Impact Partnerships) can help invest taxpayer dollars in results-driven solutions and improve outcomes for our nation's citizens.

Congressman John K. Delaney (MD-6) is the only former CEO of a publicly traded company in the House of Representatives. Congressman Delaney founded and led two NYSE-listed financial services companies before the age of forty and is a past winner of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Delaney serves on the Financial Services and Joint Economic Committee. Delaney was first elected in 2012 and is a member of the Board of Directors of Georgetown University and the National Symphony Orchestra.
